Christopher Voci's 1987 New Yorker

Here are the details on my 1987 Nyer:

All original, 93000 miles, California car, purchased new at a dealer in West Covina in April of 1987 by my Dad; he had been shopping for one to replace the '83 Dodge 600 we had at the time and had trouble finding a silver one near us with the options he wanted. He happened to be in Cali on business and found it and bought it out there. It was shipped to us back east. My Dad passed away in 2003 and I still have it. I have a place to keep it (it is garaged in a secure location). I use it just enough to keep it running and show it in the occasional local show. This car was Chrysler's ultimate expression of the front wheel drive car; a technologically advanced sedan for those who wanted the content of the Fifth Avenue, without the size and weight and with a modern drive train and electronics. Any way you put it it is my dream car; waterfall grille, classic styling, fantastic sound system with great performance and gas mileage. If any members need any info, I have most of the documentation that came with the car including it's owners manual which I can send in PDF format.

Facts:

1987 New Yorker 4dr standard Turbo model, Platinum Silver with gray interior

Standard features include: Full power, tilt, cruise, pin stripes, halo vinyl top with targa bar and electroluminescent coach lamps, digital instrumentation, Voice Alert, "Traveler" trip computer, Climate control, Wire wheel covers

Options: Chrysler Design radio with Infinity extended range speaker system, "Kimberly" velour interior , matching floor mats, performance suspension (note that part numbers for the sway bars and such are the same for the Daytona Turbo of that year!); Dunlop SP performance radial P205/70SR14 WSW tires (dealer installed; recommended over the Goodyear tires), California Emissions System

The only options we didn't get was a sunroof and leather seats (which looked uninviting anyway)

It has been very reliable and trouble free (even the AC works); It is all original except for the usual stuff like struts, brakes, belts tires (replaced with Dunlop Axiom Plus performance tires. The only big repair was a power steering pump and a drivers side power window lift motor.

Some trivia - a 1987 New Yorker in silver was prominently used in an episode of the TV series Hunter from 1987 called "The Cradle Will Rock" (which also guest starred rock vocalist Chaka Kahn)

More trivia - Our New Yorker stickered even higher than the most loaded Fifth Avenue (with leather and sunroof).

Regards and thanks;
